Thanks Mr. Rudd, I have clean clothes now

I got $900 in the mail last week – the government is giving money away to try and get people to restart the economy. The PM strongly recommended people spend the money rather than save it, and I was sorely tempted to buy myself a bottle of Grange or some such totally frivolous thing, but instead I bought a washing machine. I know it’s lame, but after a year and a half, hand washing or paying $4 per load at the laundromat was getting pretty annoying. Since the washing machine was <$600, I still have more than $300 left over to spend. Any suggestions?

Set aside a few bucks for a cleaning lady before your Dad comes again to avoid another allergy attack/cleaning frenzy :-) . Or an A/C/heater for your bedroom-one of those movable ones for when we visit again.Ha!

I can’t imagine hand-washing my clothes . . I would just wear them until they were so dirty they could stand on their own! I am a fan of the washing machine. I just wish they could magically hop into the dryer all by themselves too – and then back into my closet.

I would never just let my clothes get that dirty. I would only wait until they kinda crouched – if they could stand then they got washed.

don’t use driers here so much – in summer it’s so hot and dry it’s almost faster to put them outside than to put them in a drier. It’s a bit more difficult in winter b/c it’s foggy and misty alot, so I might have to go to the laundromat down the street :(

So what did you end up purchasing with that money? Anything fun? Functional? We miss you!
